Cameron Delano upsets Alex the Terrible in BKFC's Blood 4 Blood

DAYTONA BEACH — Fans watched limbs fly on the floor of the Ocean Center at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship's Blood 4 Blood event on May 6, and that goes for both the boxing and heavy-metal mosh pits.

USA TODAY

The unique hybrid featured four bare-knuckle matches separated by brief heavy metal concerts from Slaughter to Prevail, Crowbar, Malevolence, Black Label Society and a pre-show from Chained Saint.

Slaughter to Prevail kicked off the night with a performance led by lead vocalist Aleksandr Shikolay, better known as Alex the Terrible in the bare-knuckle fighting and metal scenes. In a twist fitting for the event, Shikolay boxed professional bull rider Cameron Delano a few hours later in the main event.

Despite being a sizable underdog, it was Delano that took the victory against fan-favorite Alex the Terrible in what turned out to be the longest fight of the night.

Delano knocked Shikolay on his back with a straight right to the nose 15 seconds into the first round. Delano, who was backed against the ropes, barely beat a Shikolay punch that was thrown at him at the exact same time.

Shikolay wasn’t able to beat the 10-second count, and the fight was waved off 29 seconds into the third round.

“Alex is a tough son of a [expletive],” Delano said in his post-fight interview in the ring. “I knew in that third round, we were about to go [expletive] at it, so I appreciate it, I love him for it, and I’m a huge fan.”

The fight between two 1-0-0 fighters ended with Delano keeping his unbeaten record after knocking down Shikolay multiple times over the three rounds. Shikolay fell to 1-1.

Shikolay, who helped organize the event and even fought for free, according to an interview with MMA Fighting, said he broke his nose from Delano’s punch. However, he’ll still be performing with Slaughter to Prevail when the band plays at Rockville on Sunday.

“Of course I’m very sad I lost, it [expletive] sucks,” Shikolay said. “But sometimes shit happens, and I feel sad, but at the same time, I feel so [expletive] happy because we made this, Blood 4 Blood.”

Cameron “The Bull” Delano boxes Alex “The Terrible” Shikolay during the Blood 4 Blood event at the Ocean Center on May 6, 2026, kicking off the festivities for Welcome to Rockville.

Blood 4 Blood’s debut fight was between Brock Walker and Sergey “Kratos” Kalinin, who helped corner Shikolay against Delano.

For Kalinin, it was also his BKFC debut after spending more than a decade bare-knuckle boxing in Russian promotions, such as Top Dog. Walker also wasn’t a stranger to combat sports as a former amateur MMA fighter dating back to 2012.

The fight hardly lasted a minute, and it was Kalinin that walked away as the victor.

Donning boxing shorts made purely out of animal fur, the fighter listed only as “Kratos” on Blood 4 Blood’s card knocked down Walker four times before earning the TKO in 1:06.

Taylor “Killa Bee” Starling and Sydney Smith, who replaced Marisol Ruelas on a week’s notice, were the first pair to make it out of the first round, although barely.

Starling, the most experienced BKFC fighter on the card with a 5-4 record, dominated the first round with multiple combos that cut Smith’s face. Smith did answer and busted Starling’s nose and gave her a black eye, but the damage was mostly one-sided.

The second round is when Starling ended the bout.

Starling wobbled Smith with an overhand right that wobbled the Charlottesville, Virginia, native before throwing a flurry of punches that earned her the TKO 1:32 into the second round.

Jake Bostwick earned the first true knockout of the night in his co-main event against Roderick Stewart.

Bostwick and Stewart had the most cautious first round of Wednesday night, as both fighters connected on a few punches and briefly met in the clinch. But ultimately damage was negligible and the round could’ve been scored either way.

The second round was similar until Bostwick found an opening. After backing Stewart to the ropes, Bostwick landed a close-range right cross clean on the chin with Stewart’s left arm by his side.

Stewart dropped to a knee and couldn’t return to his feet within 10 seconds to continue the fight.

Former South Carolina player to coach Division I HBCU women's basketball team

Dawn Staley’s coaching tree just grew another branch in Division I women’s basketball.

USA TODAY

Olivia Gaines, who played two seasons for Staley at South Carolina, will be named the next head coach at North Carolina Central, a person with direct knowledge of the hire told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official announcement is expected within the next few days.

Gaines takes over the program at the HBCU in Durham, North Carolina, after spending two seasons at Division II Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. She guided the Yellow Jackets to a 36-19 overall record and a 29-14 mark in conference play. In back-to-back seasons, Allen won 18 regular season games, setting a program record.

At Allen, Gaines also coached the SIAC Freshman of the Year, Eboni Clay. Gaines achieved success there despite being the only program in the conference competing without the complement of full scholarships.

Gaines has previously been an assistant coach at Georgia Southern, and was also the head coach at Richard Bland College — a junior college in Petersburg, Virginia. She led Richard Bland to a 29-3 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Division II national championship. She’s also been a high school head coach, the head coach at USC Salkehatchie, and had stops as an assistant in the NCAA Division II and III ranks.

A native of Chester, South Carolina, Gaines played for Staley’s Gamecocks during key seasons when the program was building its foundation as a regular national title contender. When Gaines was a junior in the 2013-14 season, South Carolina won its first of 10 SEC regular season titles under Staley. The next season, the Gamecocks won the SEC Tournament and appeared in the Final Four for the first time.

Gaines played about 10 minutes per game across 67 contests in two seasons for South Carolina teams powered by A'ja Wilson, Tiffany Mitchell and Alaina Coates. In an SEC Tournament semifinal win over LSU in 2015, Gaines piled up four points, four assists, two steals, two rebounds and a block in 18 minutes off the bench.

NC Central has had difficulty finding a winning formula in women’s basketball since jumping up to Division I in 2008. They’ve had four head coaches since then and just three seasons with a winning record in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.

The school announced that Terrence Baxter would not return as head coach after three seasons on March 16. It took the Eagles 52 days to land on Gaines, which was the second-longest coaching search in women’s college basketball this year, trailing only VCU, which had an opening for 57 days.

Chiefs RB Emmett Johnson earns a comparison to a retired All-Pro

Kansas City Chiefshead coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters during last weekend's rookie minicamp. He offered a promising comparison for rookie Emmett Johnson to retired All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy.

USA TODAY

"First of all, he's (Johnson) got a good feel for things, (he's) a smart, kind, good kid, he's got that lateral quickness. We had LeSean McCoy here for a bit, and he has a little bit of that to him, where he can shift gears and still get himself up the field quickly," said Reid, "I like the way he pass protects, I like the way he catches the football, and it looks like he can do that here. We're not doing live stuff, but the catching part he does easy. Probably most of all, I just like his smarts. He's going to help on special teams, too. Dave (Toub) has him in that up-back position on the punt team and (he's) able to make all the calls and get guys going in the right direction."

McCoy was a two-time first-team All-Pro and a six-time Pro Bowler and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. No player scored more touchdowns, ran for more yards, or gained more yards from scrimmage than McCoy from 2010 to 2019, and he notably won two Super Bowls with the first as a member of the Chiefs in 2019.

Reid explained how Johnson's receiving ability drove the idea to target him in the draft.

"It's important in this offense that you're able to catch the ball. You got to be able to block, and he (Johnson) showed that," said Reid, "At the same time, you have to be able to run the ball. The more you can do, we'll utilize you in those areas, and it puts pressure on the defense."

During his four seasons at Nebraska, Johnson appeared in 41 games, tallying 2,460 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 458 attempts. He also had 92 receptions for 702 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Sanderson sisters are returning to triple your trouble!Entertainment Weeklyhas confirmed that the long-teasedHocus Pocus 3film is officially in development, almost three years afterDisneyfirst announced thatthe threequel was in the works.

Franchise starsBette Midler,Kathy Najimy, andSarah Jessica Parkerwill reprise their beloved roles as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of Salem witches who can't seem to stay away from modern times.

The news follows the major streaming success ofHocus Pocus 2in 2022, which reunited the central stars 29 years after the release of director Kenny Ortega's 1993 original, andbroke streaming recordsfor theDisney+platform upon its debut.

Deadline, which first broke the news, reports that there are plans for a theatrical distribution component this time following the sequel's massive success while available exclusively on Disney+. EVP of Production Jessica Virtue will be overseeing the project on behalf of Disney Live Action.

Disney first announced in the summer of 2023 that a third film was in development, withwriter Jen D'Angelo telling EWshortly afterward that she had a lot of ideas for the sequel, including potentially expanding upon the storyline set forth byHannah Waddingham's mother witch in the 2022 sequel.

"We're still in the story phase, we're still working on it. We've been working on some ideas, and it's been fun to dive back into that world, and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore," D'Angelo said at the time. "We've only scratched the surface ofHannah Waddingham's mother witch."

When D'Angeloconfirmed news EW broke in early 2022that OG starThora Birch— along with costarsVinessa ShawandOmri Katz, who collectively portrayed the children who resurrected the sinister Sanderson Sisters in 1993 Salem — would not be returning for the second film, she also shared several ideas featuring Birch that could possibly serve as elements inHocus Pocus 3.

"I was so invested in trying to get [Birch as] Dani back into the story. We had a bunch of different versions of that, too, where she was really a part of it," D'Angelorevealed at the time, noting that "there were some versions where she was popping in briefly as a cameo," and another where "she has a whole arsenal of anti-magic" to fight the Sandersons' modern resurrection in the sequel.

Almost a year later, in June 2024, Midlergave another updateduring an interview onThe Jess Cagle Show. The actress said at the time that Disney was "very gingerly and very gently" working on the third film.

DirectorAnne Fletchertook over to helmHocus Pocus 2, which again resurrected Midler, Parker, and Najimy as the Sanderson Sisters, who returned to terrorize a modern-day group of teenage girls that unwittingly brought them back from the dead on Halloween. Thefilm ended on an ambiguous note that teased a potential continuationof the story ahead.

Original starDoug Jonesalso returned for the sequel as thezombified Billy Butcherson, though EW exclusively confirmed that other actors from the first film — includingLarry Bagby, Tobias Jelinek,Katz, Shaw, andBirch— would not reprise their roles in the sequel.

In anexclusive interview with EWforHocus Pocus 2, Midler, Parker, and Najimy shared their thoughts on continuing the series for a third film.

"I'm envious of other actors who have franchises, and I was hoping for a sequel toFirst Wives Club, but we never got that. After 30 years with no sequel toHocus Pocus, I've always been envious of people who get to do their favorite character more than once. The fact that we got to do this finally, after 30 years of promoting the idea, I'm glad we got to do it. I'd love to have a franchise — especially a character I love playing," Midler said at the time.

She added, "If there was a third one, of course I'd sign on, but I don't know how. I can't imagine what the story would be, but I love Winifred, Sarah, Mary, and our relationship. It's good for women. We stick together through hell and high water, but we do cause mayhem, and not many women cause that much mayhem!"

"Kathy had a good idea that the third one should be animated," Parker shared. "That would be cool and a smart idea. It's fun, funny, and could be interesting and innovative, like old-fashioned or new [animation]... Of course I'd be happy to have a conversation [for a third film], it just depends on what Kathy and Bette want!"
